California State Assembly District 40 issued the following announcement on March 17.

CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 40: Assemblymember Ramos Office and Staff Information during the COVID-19 Crisis

Please know that during the COVID-19 emergency, the Office of Assemblymember Ramos will be operating at a limited staffing capacity. For now, however, the office will remain open Monday – Friday during regular business hours. Staff information for policy areas and their emails are listed below. Please be aware that the information may change. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Adriana Ruelas: Chief of Staff  Adriana.Ruelas@Asm.Ca.Gov

Adriana has overall responsibility for the management of my office, directs staff, and coordinates staff to implement Assemblymember Ramos’ legislative and policy direction. In addition, she staffs the Rules Committee, Joint Committee on Rules and his caucus memberships. Adriana also shares staffing for the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #1 (Health and Human Services) and the Select Committee on Native American Affairs with Katherine.

Katherine Van Horn: Legislative Director  Katherine.VanHorn@Asm.Ca.Gov

Katherine oversees the Assemblymember’s legislative package in coordination with the chief of staff. Katherine staffs the following issues and Committees in Sacramento: Accountability and Administrative Review; Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media; Budget Sub. 4 (State Administration); Budget Sub. 6 (Budget Process, Oversight, Pro.); Business and Professions; Communications and Conveyance; Elections and Redistricting; Environmental Safety Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials; Governmental Organization; Natural Resources (including Cap and Trade); Privacy and Consumer Protection; and PERS. Her other committee and issue areas include: Health, Budget, Budget Sub. 1 (Health and Human Services) with Adriana; the Select Committee on Native American Affairs; Census; Environmental Quality in the Inland Empire; Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Inland Empire Caucus. She also works with a district counterpart to assist issues for the Cities of Loma Linda and Rancho Cucamonga.

Maria is responsible for communications duties and coordinates with other staff on other public outreach. She responds to media inquiries, prepares and distributes news releases, assists in policy research and oversees social media postings. Maria also covers the following issue areas: Aging & Long-term Care; Human Services; Insurance; Judiciary; Public Safety; Transportation; the City of San Bernardino; and Homelessness in San Bernardino County.

Gavin staffs individual bills and works closely with the Legislative Director. He is responsible for covering the following issue areas for Assemblymember Ramos: Agriculture; Banking and Finance; Budget Sub.2 (Education Finance); Budget Sub.  3 (Resources and Transportation); Budget Sub. 5 (Public Safety); Education (K-12); Higher Education; Housing and Community Development; Labor; Revenue and Taxation; Utilities and Energy; Veterans Affairs; Water, Parks, and Wildlife. Other responsibilities include: Local Government; Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy; Domestic Violence; Regional Transportation Solutions; Status of Boys and Men of Color; and Veteran Employment and Education as well as the Cities of Highland, Mentone and Redlands.

-Jeovana Sanchez Gonzalez:  District Director  Jeovana.SanchezGonzalez@Asm.Ca.Gov

Jeovana serves as the principal representative of Assemblymember James C. Ramos in the district. She has broad discretion on behalf of the Member and has overall responsibility for district office operations, including scheduling the Member’s activities, performing tasks requested by the Member, reviewing important correspondence, and coordinating with the Capitol Office. In addition, Jeovana serves as a liaison between the district and the Member and Chief of Staff by maintaining an awareness and involvement in district affairs and issues.

-Jessie Leyva: Senior Field Representative   Jessie.Leyva@Asm.Ca.Gov

Jessie functions as a senior level representative in the Member’s district office, assisting the District Director. Jessie is also the primary liaison between the Member and the cities of Highland, San Bernardino, and Redlands. She responds to a variety of complex constituent inquiries and problems, including professional interpersonal communications and responses to telephone calls and mail. In addition, she attends local government community and private interest group meetings and produces reports discussing key issues discussed.

-Isis Nohelia Medina Orellana: Field Representative  Nohelia.Orellana@Asm.Ca.Gov

Nohelia functions as the second representative in the Member’s office. She is the primary liaison between the Member and the cities of Loma Linda, Mentone, and Rancho Cucamonga. . She responds to a variety of complex constituent inquiries and problems, including professional interpersonal communications and responses to telephone calls and mail. In addition, she attends local government community and private interest group meetings and produces reports discussing key issues discussed.

-Anthony Mahfood:  Office Assistant  Anthony.Mahfood@Asm.Ca.Gov

Anthony performs a variety of routine clerical office tasks and assists in maintaining records and files. He also coordinates office procedures, routine correspondence, telephone inquiries, events and special projects.
