Millville Elementary School issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.
As we return to school five days a week, below are some reminders of the protocols and precautions that remain in place.
Please note: there are no other changes to our schedules or to our day other than all students will be in seat five days a week.
Before School Drop Off
As we will have all students arriving within the same window of time we ask for patience as we establish a new routine.
Students may be dropped off at school between 8:15-8:35. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:15 unless you have already signed up for Before School Care.
Students are to report to their classroom immediately upon arrival at school.
After School Pick UP
As we will have all students departing within the same window of time we ask for patience as we establish a new routine.
Students who are not riding the bus or signed up for After School Care may be picked up, drive through style, between 2:05 and 2:20.
Parents can arrive at any time between 2:05-2:20 to pick up their children; you do not have to arrive at 2:05.
If you have a child who needs help buckling upon pick up, we recommend you arrive toward the end of the pick up period or pull to the side of the pick up lines in order to buckle.
Before School Care/After School Care
Both BSC and ASC are at capacity at this time. During BSC and ASC students remain in their classroom or family cohorts, distanced from the other students, so we must keep our numbers low. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for either BSC or ASC, please call the office.
Face Coverings
All students in grades 3-8 must wear a face covering as they enter school, exit school and while in the classroom.
Students in grades TK-2 must wear a face covering as they enter school, exit school and are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering while in the classroom.
All students in grades TK-8 must wear a face covering while on the bus.
If a student arrives at the bus stop or at school without a face covering, one will be provided. If a student refuses to wear a face covering provided, or one of his/her own, he/she will not be allowed to enter the bus or school grounds.
Student Well Checks
We cannot emphasize more strongly the importance of keeping your child home if s/he has a fever, cough, chills, sore throat, nausea or any indicator of any illness. We cannot risk making other students and staff sick; if you drop your child off with symptoms we will send your child right back home.
Parents are asked to take children’s temperature at home before coming to school.
Any temperature or sign of illness, students must remain home.
Visual well checks by certificated and classified staff will take place as students arrive at school.
If a student displays symptoms of any illness (not the occasional cough or sneeze) at any time during the day, the office will be notified immediately. At that time, the student will be escorted to the office. Students will be sent home if symptoms indicate any kind of contagious illness.
We will notify Public Health if any student/staff member has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has someone in his or her household who has been diagnosed.
Please contact the school if someone in your home or a close contact has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Depending on the situation, your child may need to stay home for a required number of days per Shasta County Public Health.
Water
We strongly encourage each of our students to bring a full day’s worth of water to school.
Visitors/Volunteers
Unfortunately, no visitors or volunteers are allowed on the school campus at this time.
Visiting the School Office
We prefer parents and guests refrain from dropping in on the school office. If you have business to take care of at the office, call to see if your matter can be managed on the phone or through email.
If you must visit the school office, call first, wear a mask, socially distance and make sure there is no one in the office before you. Only one person in the office area at a time.
Early Student Pick Up
If you find it necessary to pick up your child earlier than 2:05, please call the office first. Upon your arrival (you can call from your car or we will see you have arrived) we will call your child from his/her classroom. Your child will meet you at your car. A staff member will ask you to sign your child out either by email or in person.
Cohorts
Students will continue to remain in their classroom cohorts throughout the day, including lunch and recess, with no physical interaction with students from other cohorts.
It’s True! There is Such a Thing as Free Lunch! Lunch and breakfast, for all students, is free and will remain so at least through December. The school menu is linked below. Our kitchen is disinfected and sanitized daily, our kitchen staff, Chef Selina and Chef Dee, take all the precautions necessary to assure a clean kitchen and a healthy meal.
