College of the Redwoods issued the following announcement.
The College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees selected new leadership officers at their December 17 meeting. The new President of the Board will be Trustee Danny Kelley, who
is replacing current Board President Dr. Colleen Mullery. The Vice President of the Board will be Trustee Carol Mathews, and the Clerk of the Board will be Trustee Richard Dorn.
The newly elected Board officers will assume office at the January Board meeting. The terms of office will be for one year or until their successors are elected. All CR Trustees
include Mr. Tracy Coppini (Area 1), Mr. Danny Kelley (Area 2), Mrs. Carol Mathews (Area 3), Mr. Richard Dorn (Area 4), Dr. Rebecca Robertson (Area 5), Dr. Colleen Mullery (Area
6), Mrs. Sally Biggin (Area 7), and Student Representative Ms. Christine Peters. A detailed list of Trustee areas is attached. Mr. Coppini and Dr. Robertson are the only new
members this year, appointed by a Board election in October to replace Mr. Bruce Emad and Dr. Bonnie Deister.
“This global pandemic hasn't stopped all of the great work CR is leading in our region” said new Board President Kelley. “The current board, administration, faculty and staff are
excited to work with our new board members to help our regional workforce recover from the economic impact of the pandemic and adapt to the new opportunities coming through
a partnership with Nordic Aquafarms and the very real possibility of a polytechnic conversion of HSU.”
Duties of the President of the Board are to preside at all regular and special meetings, to call special meetings as provided for by law, to sign such documents on behalf of the
Board of Trustees as may require the President's signature, and to represent the District.
Duties of the Vice President of the Board are to perform all of the duties of the President in case of the absence, resignation, or temporary incapacity of the President of the Board.
Duties of the Clerk of the Board are to certify actions taken by the Board of Trustees whenever such certification is required for any purpose; to make or maintain such other
records or reports as are required by law; and to perform such other duties as may require official signature by the Board of Trustees of the District.
“The Board of Trustees are important leaders to the institution” said President Flamer. “Mr. Kelley’s expertise in leadership and organizational processes is perfect for his role as
President of the Board. From his work in the private sector, his close connections to the community, his service on the national community college stage, and his proven advocacy
for students, he brings a wide range of perspectives to his leadership role.”
“I know that Mrs. Mathews and Mr. Dorn are firm believers in the power of education to transform lives” continued President Flamer. “I am confident that Trustees Mathews and
Dorn will lend their considerable College of the Redwoods and community college experience to helping Mr. Kelley lead the board and the institution.”
