The annual "Recovery Happens" event will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Redding Park Pavilion and Gazebo. The event aims to foster community connections and promote the belief that recovery is achievable.

Attendees can enjoy free food, carnival snacks, and family-friendly activities while listening to live music and testimonials from individuals in recovery. A resource fair will also be available, featuring substance use treatment providers.

This event is part of Recovery Happens Month, an initiative designed to celebrate the progress made by those in recovery, educate the public about treatment options, and combat stigma related to substance use issues.

The event is organized through a partnership involving local nonprofit treatment providers, sober living homes, health clinics, and government agencies. The organizing committee works year-round to plan activities for Recovery Happens Month.

Transportation assistance is available through RABA with free rides until September 30. Routes 11 and 14 have stops near the Lake Redding Park Pavilion and Gazebo on Benton Dr.

For more information about the event, contact Christopher Diamond at cdiamond@shastacounty.gov or (530) 229-8484.

*Note: Recovery Happens is a smoke-free event.
