Senators adjourn Senate in honor of Gary Archuleta

Senators Dahle and Nielsen adjourned the Senate in honor of Gary Archuleta, who passed away on February 23, 2022, at the age of 71. Archuleta was remembered for his life of service and dedication to others. He is survived by his wife Connie and daughters Katherine and Angela.

After attending school in Oroville, Archuleta served a five-year tour in the US Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for 22 years as an employee of the City of Oroville Parks Department.

Archuleta retired from this position when he was elected Tribal Vice Chairman of Mooretown Rancheria. He later became Tribal Chairman, serving the community for 20 years before retiring in 2016.

He dedicated much of his life to improving opportunities for indigenous people and was considered a cherished friend by many.

California's 1st Senate District includes parts or all of Alpine, El Dorado, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Siskiyou, Shasta counties as well as portions of Tehama, Butte, Colusa and Glenn counties.
