The Trinity County Board of Supervisors has started a nationwide search for a new County Administrative Officer (CAO). The current CAO, Trent Tuthill, announced in November that he will not extend his contract beyond its current term, which ends in April 2026.

Applications for the position are being accepted until January 23, 2026. The Board aims to complete the recruitment and appoint a new CAO before Tuthill’s departure in April.

The Board will continue to discuss recruitment matters in closed session as required by state law. Once a candidate is selected, their proposed employment contract will be presented at a future open session meeting for public consideration.

For more information about the recruitment process, interested applicants and community members can contact the Trinity County Human Resources Office at HR@trinitycounty.org.
