City of Redding issued the following announcement.
On Sunday, December 13th, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., the City of Redding will declare an end to “Door Yard” open burning. This means that for residents that have obtained the free on-
line burn permit, open burning will be closed until April 2021. Residents that have obtained a Fuels Mitigation permit may continue to burn on authorized burn days.
The Redding Fire Department offers two types of burn permits; the “Door-Yard” permit and the “Fuel Mitigation” permit. The Door-Yard permit is for residential use, is free and can
be easily obtained online by visiting the Fire Department page. Just fill out and print the permit to have on hand during burning operations. This free permit allows one to burn a maximum 4-foot pile size during the months of November and April only.
The “Fuel Mitigation” permit is $16 and can be obtained by contacting the Redding Fire Department at (530) 225-4141. An inspection of the pile(s) and burn area are required by a
Redding Fire Inspector. The Fuel Mitigation permit is good for both residential and commercial properties and allows the permittee to burn throughout the winter months on
authorized burn days. Another benefit of the Fuel Mitigation permit is that the Fire Inspector can adjust authorized pile size depending on clearances and one’s ability to safely
maintain control of the burn pile.
