Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) has voiced his concerns regarding a recent proposal by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) during a budget hearing. The proposal in question would require certain utilities to purchase excess power from community solar facilities at a premium cost. Senator Dahle criticized the Democrats' push for this policy, which he believes could significantly increase costs for those without access to community solar.

During the Budget Subcommittee meeting, Senator Dahle commended the CPUC for their decision to limit the financial burden on non-participating customers. He supported an alternative program that incentivizes community solar projects without raising electric rates. In response to the Democrats' efforts to influence the CPUC, Senator Dahle emphasized the importance of considering the impact of such policies on all constituents.

“The Legislature needs to look at these projects and make sure they are not harming non-participants,” Senator Dahle stated. “This is a policy issue and shouldn’t even be discussed in a budget subcommittee. Sacramento Dems need to stop supporting policies that are bankrupting constituents. Californians have a right to safe, affordable, and reliable energy.”

Senator Dahle represents California's 1st Senate District, which includes multiple counties in the state. His stance on the CPUC's proposal reflects his commitment to advocating for safe, affordable, and reliable energy solutions for all Californians.
