Senator Brian Dahle recently shared updates with constituents regarding various legislative activities and community events. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Dahle attended a Remembrance Ceremony, expressing gratitude to service members who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

In legislative matters, Dahle noted the busy period at the Capitol due to the House of Origin deadline on May 24 and the upcoming budget deadline on June 15. Despite California's financial challenges, Dahle assured constituents of his commitment to creating a responsible budget that maintains vital programs and efficiently utilizes taxpayer dollars.

Dahle addressed a recent decision by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to implement a flat fee on utility bills based on income levels, which could reach up to $24 monthly. He criticized this measure as it discourages energy conservation. Earlier in the year, Dahle co-authored Senate Bill 1326 to repeal this fixed-rate charge, but it was voted down.

The senator also expressed concerns about potential increases in gas prices proposed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which could raise prices by nearly 50 cents per gallon in 2026. The proposals aim to encourage a switch to electric cars, but Dahle highlighted California's current lack of capacity and infrastructure for such a transition.

On a positive note, Dahle reported that CPUC has proposed rejecting AT&T's request to withdraw its carrier of last resort obligation as a landline telecommunications service provider—a decision crucial for rural residents relying on landlines.

Dahle also shared updates on several bills he authored that have passed through the State Senate:

- **Senate Bill 1062**: Supports converting biomass generation facilities to advanced bioenergy technology.

- **Senate Bill 1207**: Expands "eligible materials" under the Buy Clean California Act.

- **Senate Bill 1258**: Authorizes waivers for interest on unrecovered Medi-Cal overpayments under certain conditions.

- **Senate Bill 1423**: Requires full reimbursement of reasonable costs for providing patient care at critical access hospitals.

- **Senate Bill 1163**: Allows state agencies to make evidence-based decisions for improving traffic and wildlife safety.

In community news, various events took place across Senate District One. Highlights included workshops led by local leaders such as Justi Hansen from Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance and grand openings like Four Leaf Clothing Co. in Chico and Bird Street Child Development Center’s new facility in Butte County. The district also celebrated Diamond View Middle School’s recognition as a California Distinguished School.

Dahle emphasized his ongoing commitment to policies reflecting North State values and appreciated constituents' involvement in local issues.
